Abruptly Plucked from IT
My life as I knew it was about to change drastically.
An insurance company was buying our insurance company.
I got a call from the president of our insurance company requesting that I take the lead manager position on the merger transition team overseeing the creation of the new U.S. distribution system for our company merger.
The team that I would be leading would be a cross-functional team including IT professionals, marketing specialists, independent agents, and other SMEs involved in our U.S. distribution system.
The other lead manager on our transition team was responsible for creating the new underwriting and customer service areas.
Our transition team worked on creating our new insurance company for the next 4 years.
The result? A new U.S. Distribution system with newly hired field marketing specialists, for whom I hired from the job descriptions my transition team wrote. These marketing specialists then used these newly written procedures (supported by automation and newly created in-house support teams) to excel in their positions.
It was the most challenging and rewarding position that I ever had the honor of working.
After the insurance company merger
Through the company merger, our IT department was moved to an out of state location.
Not able to move at that time, I took a manager position in the business area.
Enter... my new position as a Customer and Agency Manager.
Primary responsibilities:
- Overseeing the daily activities and growth of property-casualty insurance products for a multi-state territory.
- Managing a team of marketing specialists, underwriters, customer service and billing representatives, and our independent agents.
Insurance company is bought again
Upper management positions were eliminated, so even though I was offered a new position, I left the company and started my own insurance agency.
In my insurance agency (businessowner) - (16+ years and still going)
In early years of my agency, licensed as:
- registered investment advisor - but chose a few years ago to let go of this license
- insurance licensed; property/casualty, accident and health
Currently licensed for and help clients with:
- health and accident Insurance
- employee benefits
- life Insurance
- annuities
In the meantime, a few years ago - I went back to Tech - my first love - adding it to my business offers/agency:
Spent 10's of thousands of dollars learning digital marketing- QUICKLY:
- learned the most effective strategies to use for digital sales, marketing, and workflow automations.
- I also learned:
- effective strategies for digital marketing and sales
- how to build sales and marketing funnels
- how to build FB messenger flows
- how to build IG DM automations
- how to effectively launch an offer
- many online tools to support automating workflows
Oh Yeah... and somewhere in the last few years, I also found time to get my Six Sigma Green Belt (and this is not a physical certification).
